Fiona & Tyler’s relationship was full of fun adventures. In fact they told me that after a spontaneous Bumble date, their relationship took off. Next thing you know they’re in a call with me about how they’re about to get married.
Why They Eloped
They knew a big wedding wouldn’t represent quite the same adventure they had in their relationship.
Too many moving parts. Too many expectations. Too much of the day spent hosting instead of actually being together.
So they chose to do what felt right: an intimate celebration with just the two of them. No crowd. No timeline packed with obligations. Just space to slow down, take it all in, and make the day about what their relationship actually is. Personal, intentional, and rooted in the idea that the best moments don’t need an audience.
What They Wanted for Their Adventure
Their vision was simple:
Diverse nature sceneries
Hiking
Spacious
Grand and Epic
Artistic Photos
During our call they told me how much they love nature and hiking together. They said that their perfect day looks like being outdoors, exploring nature deeply, and trying bomb food. Somewhere with LOTS of space and looks epic.
When we were brainstorming locations and activities for their day, they mentioned how they imagine to be surrounded by dramatic sceneries.
How I Planned Their Experience
I designed their day at the Mount Baker Area in the North Cascades.
Why? Because this place is so incredibly vast and spacious. Known for its dramatic alpine scenery, it’s where you can truly feel like you have a day exploring nature and see all of its beauty. All while surprisingly having less visitors than other national parks in Washington.
I crafted a few timeline options based on their vision. We went over the timing of their day and roughly what it could look like, and we narrowed it down to the one that felt right to them.
We talked about permit information and costs associated, lodging recommendation, restaurant recommendation, and vendor recommendations.
Once everything was finalized, I gave them a packing list of what to bring.

Their Elopement Experience
Fiona and Tyler were super stoked and were ready to go the second we met up at the parking lot. They started the day off with a fun morning hike. Took some epic photos. They decided to wear comfortable hike clothes instead of wedding attire this time because they totally can. Feeling comfortable and doing whatever you want on your elopement day is what it’s all about!
After the morning hike they returned to their cars, headed for lunch, and went gift shopping at a local store.
With their bellies filled and shopping bags full of souvenirs, they continued on to another hiking journey. This time, they headed to their ceremony locations.
They spent this time viewing beautiful sceneries again, walked across some snow, saw a beautiful lake, and simply enjoyed the crisp air. We stopped by many of these locations for portraits, and they turned out drop-dead gorgeous!
They reached their ceremony location before sunset. Stood on an alpine ridgeline, and had an emotional vow. During this the sun began to glow beautifully as the sun was setting. Behind them was a steep rocky terrain that was rising out of a dense forest, with low clouds and mist drifting across the peak. After their vow they had one of the most tender hug I’ve ever seen. This moment was such a dream.
One thing I love about these two: even in a serious situation like their emotional vows. They still show their silly side. That’s why they’re such a perfect fit for each other. I took candid photos of them telling jokes and having a laugh. They finished their intimate ceremony by popping champagne (it’s actually sparkling water). Pro tip: bring two bottles so each partners can have a chance to pop!
Our grand finale was at Artist Point. This was actually a few minutes walk from the ceremony I found for them so it was convenient after their vows. We got super lucky with the weather. So lucky that the wind was incredibly still and we were able to take reflection photos for sunset because of how calm the water was. It was the perfect mirror for an artist, symmetrical photo.
During blue hour, everything went quiet and cool-toned. To warm it back up, they flipped on a few soft orange lights and we tried a few photo tricks with their veil.
And then, to close it all out, we brought out the lanterns. It was the perfect full-stop ending. Simple, warm, and cinematic. We took our time with it and they just stood there soaking it in, enjoying the last scene of the night before we all headed back.
Make Your Dream Elopement a Reality
"Calvin was a very obvious choice. He came off as friendly and hardworking immediately, and accommodated all our needs to the very last minute. He planned a very detailed, fun-packed itinerary from before dawn until after dusk in and around Mt. Rainier, and went out of his way to include a location that held sentimental value for me.
He was so fun and down-to-earth, and He EXCELS at candid photos, and thus we were able to relax and enjoy ourselves while he documented the full story"
